Kayce Hodos | Maternal Mental Health Specialist in Wake Forest, NC
I specialize in helping highly sensitive women manage maternal burnout, intrusive thoughts, and the identity shift that often feels invisible to others.
My Journey with Postpartum Depression and Anxiety
My professional interests have always centered on loss, life transitions, and anxiety, but after the birth of my son in 2012, I realized how much grief and loneliness there is in motherhood itself.
My own very dark experience with postpartum depression and anxiety led me to prioritize my own mental health and seek therapy myself. After my recovery, I decided I wanted to be a safe, and supportive presence for other women through pregnancy and the 4th trimester.
There are so many parts of motherhood that we hide in the shadows, and much of my postpartum rage revolved around feeling blindsided by the truth about how challenging the adjustment is and a lack of real information on lowering the risk of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).
Today, I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health professional (PMH-C) dedicated to helping moms avoid the fog of emotional pain I once lived through.
Evidence-Based Postpartum Therapy & Coaching
I provide online therapy for women in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Michigan, as well as coaching for women all over the world, focusing on preventing and treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).
Most of my clients initially seek therapy due to a traumatic birth or loss, so I approach my work with a trauma-informed blend of the following modalities:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To manage intrusive thoughts.
CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I): The gold standard for postpartum sleep disturbances.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR): To manage the overstimulation of motherhood.
Why Choose Online Therapy or Coaching with Kayce?
As a highly sensitive person (HSP) and introvert, I’ve found that meeting with clients virtually via telehealth allows me to protect my own mental energy while providing you with high-quality care from the comfort of your own home. No need to worry about childcare or even leaving the house.
By the way, lots of moms need support that’s more casual and flexible than traditional therapy. If this sounds like you and you find it hard to carve out a full hour for a video call, I also offer asynchronous Voxer coaching. My Coach In Your Pocket service allows us to exchange unlimited voice and text messages in real-time, giving you support right when you’re in the thick of a tough parenting moment.
Local Walk + Talk Therapy in Wake Forest
While my practice is primarily virtual for clients across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Michigan, I love getting outdoors with local clients when the weather cooperates and offer a limited number of in-person Walk + Talk therapy sessions at Joyner Park in Wake Forest, NC. It’s a great way to move your body, get some Vitamin D, and connect with nature while we process the heavy stuff.
